Digital economy and China's agricultural exports: based on trade cost and market competition effect

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the effect and mechanism of the digital economy’s influence on the binary margin of agricultural exports.Design/methodology/approachBased on the theoretical analysis of the mechanism of the digital economy’s influence on the binary margin of agricultural exports, this study empirically examines the effect and mechanism of the digital economy’s influence on the binary margin of agricultural exports based on China’s customs export data from 2011 to 2016.FindingsThe relevant findings are threefold. (1) The digital economy significantly improves the binary margin of agricultural exports, and its effect on the intensive margin is stronger than that on the expansive margin. After the expansive margin is subdivided, the effects on the three sub-variables of the expansive margin are in the following order: old products exported to new markets > new products exported to old markets > new products exported to new markets. (2) The heterogeneity analysis reveals that the digital economy has a stronger role in promoting the binary margin of exports for enterprises in the eastern region, high-income countries as the destination of exports and state-owned enterprises. (3) Mechanism analysis shows that the digital economy promotes the binary margin of agricultural exports by reducing trade costs and intensifying market competition.Originality/valueFirst, in terms of research perspective, although there are some studies on the impact of the digital economy on export trade in existing literature, the research objects mainly focus on manufacturing enterprises. In fact, agricultural trade is susceptible to natural conditions and seasonal factors, and countries may impose more SPS measures and TBT measures on agricultural trade due to risk considerations. The relationship between the digital economy and agricultural trade also has its own characteristics, but there are few research studies in this area. At present, only Liu and Gao (2022), based on the data of total imports and exports of different agricultural products from 2004 to 2018, have established a vector auto-regressive model to empirically analyse the heterogeneous dynamic impact of the digital economy on the trade volume of agricultural products. In addition, Ma and Guo (2023) conducted an empirical test on the total effect, regional heterogeneity and threshold effect of the digital economy on agricultural export trade based on China’s provincial panel data from 2011 to 2020. Therefore, under the new circumstances of continuous integration of digital technology and agriculture, this study interprets the impact effect and mechanism of the digital economy on the binary margin of agricultural exports from the perspective of the digital economy, providing new research perspectives and approaches for promoting the growth of agricultural exports. Second, in terms of theoretical analysis, the above studies have not been fully analysed in terms of the specific mechanism of the impact of the digital economy on agricultural exports. Based on the positive and negative characteristics of agricultural trade, this study introduces two kinds of roles into the theoretical analysis framework to comprehensively determine the trade impact effect of the digital economy. Third, in terms of research design, this study empirically examines the impact of the digital economy on the binary margin of agricultural products, passing a series of robustness tests and investigating the mediating roles of trade cost and market competition effects, producing an empirical basis for China to leverage the digital economy to promote the binary margin of agricultural exports.

Globalization, welfare, and inequality: Evidence from transoceanic market integration, 1815–1913

Abstract This article contributes to the growing historical literature on the ‘first globalization’ (1815–1913) and income inequality in countries that exported agricultural products. International market integration is expected to increase the demand for exports and therefore their prices. We estimate the effects of increased prices from international market integration on national welfare and income inequality between and within regions in three major exporters of agricultural products—British India, Colonial Indonesia, and the United States—using the prices of eleven key primary commodities. Market integration significantly increased aggregate welfare, but the gains were unevenly distributed. Producing regions gained up to nearly 6% of their GDP. Since the regions that made most welfare gains were also the poorest in their countries, market integration mitigated inequality between regions. Within the southern United States and Java, plantation owners obtained most gains, causing a substantial increase in inequality between persons.

Рrospects for expanding the export of agricultural food products of the Republic of Belarus to the markets of Asian countries

In the context of economic challenges and sanctions restrictions, multi-vector foreign trade and development of new segments of the world market remain a priority task of the state foreign economic policy of the Republic of Belarus. Asian countries, characterized by a large population, growing demand for these products against the background of an insufficient level of self-sufficiency, diverse taste preferences of consumers, as well as an increase in their purchasing power, are considered as one of the directions for the geographic expansion of exports of agri-food products. Under conditions of the unstable general economic and agrarian situation on the continent, Vietnam, Iran, China, and Singapore are our country’s key trading partners among Asian countries. This requires a comprehensive study to determine the further interaction of these countries with the Republic of Belarus. Scientific results are presented, including the justification of customs-and-tariff and non-tariff conditions for access to the markets of Vietnam, Iran, China, and Singapore, as well as a developed set of effective ways for promoting Belarusian agri-food products on the territory of these states. In addition, a forecast of export supplies of domestic products was carried out, taking into account the specifics of trade policy and trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Belarus as a member state of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Asian countries under study. Practical implementation of the results obtained will allow Belarusian exporters to create competitive advantages based on the application of preferential terms of trade, increasing the efficiency of financial and non-financial instruments, expanding organizations’ access to support mechanisms, development of agricultural commodity distribution network, introduction of information, communication and digital tools for sales and marketing policies.

A Study on The Problematization of Logistics in Agricultural Production in The State of Tocantins

Objective: the research aims to describe the logistical service system, observing the problematization of agricultural production in the state of Tocantins, considering that this sector is one of the most promising in terms of socioeconomic and regional development in the country.
  
 Theoretical benchmark: with the growing advancement of agricultural production and the exploration of new frontiers, Brazil stands out as one of the main exporters of agricultural products today. Given the significant development of agriculture, it is observed that the logistical factor, mainly costs and infrastructure, is among the elements with the greatest impact on the efficiency of the entire agricultural production chain in the state of Tocantins.
  
 Method: the methodology adopted will be the deductive method, based on theoretical logistics studies, applicable legislation, and support materials for logistics learning systems, in addition to economic representation in the state of Tocantins. The resources used include bibliographic and documentary material and other instruments or research techniques in accordance with the adopted methodology, aiming to provide support for research on the proposed theme.
  
 Results and conclusion: given the content of this study, it is highlighted that the chain of agricultural processes encompasses a complex network of activities in the production chain, and cannot be conceived solely as a relationship between producer and consumer, given its breadth of action. In this context, it should be noted that logistics services end up representing one of the obstacles to the development of agriculture in the State of Tocantins, mainly due to its geographic location.
  
 Implications of the research: the approach adopted in this research offers unprecedented scientific contributions to the field of logistics, providing theoretical bases for interventions and public policies that can impact this economic activity in a Brazilian state with strong economic and social growth trends, whose production has repercussions at national and international levels.
  
 Originality/value: the social transformations of recent decades, related to the process of globalization of the economy and technology, have directly influenced the social and economic life of countries, affecting production and service chains and interfering in labor relations. Therefore, the increase in regions dedicated to agribusiness activities is a general trend among emerging countries, requiring a deeper understanding of the territorial approach to regional development, especially in economic activities hampered by bottlenecks in the logistics system, both national and international. Thus, new reflections and planning are necessary and imperative elements in Brazilian states like Tocantins.

How Competitive Is the Agriculture in European Union Member States? An Assessment of Changes over the Past Decade

The need to monitor changes in the level of agricultural competitiveness of EU member states necessitates the development of an appropriate set of indicators to answer the question of whether a country is improving its competitive position. This paper proposes a synthetic measure for assessing the agricultural competitiveness in the member states of the European Union (EU) from 2012 to 2021. Statistics on the respective indicators were derived from the Eurostat database and Agri-Food Data Portal. The survey was based on linear ordering using a standardised sums approach. This implies that member states vary in competitiveness in the agricultural sector. From 2012 to 2021, the most competitive countries were Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Simultaneously, the rankings of agricultural competitiveness changed over the 10 years under review. The highest improvement rates were recorded in Finland, Slovakia, and Ireland. However, the differences between the old and new member states are still explicit. None of the new member states of the EU were in the top ten with regard to their agricultural competitiveness. Many areas associated with agriculture in these countries require considerable improvement. We also carried out a principal component analysis (PCA), which allowed us to identify the parameters conveying relevant information on the analysed phenomenon and unveil the hidden structures in the primary data set. We discovered that the share of the EU’s agricultural output in the EU exports of agricultural products explained variations in the agricultural competitiveness within member states.

Risks in AGRIGULF's Agricultural Export Settlement Business and Its Management

This paper is primarily a case-based study. It takes Gulf Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as AGRIGULF) as the object of research, and adopts the case study method and field interview method to sort out the company's agricultural products export business and common settlement methods and so on. Through field visits and investigation, data collection, and collation, identify and analyze the risks of the company's agricultural export settlement business. Finally, corresponding risk management suggestions are put forward at four levels, namely, country risk, foreign exchange risk, product quality change risk, and credit risk, which are expected to provide certain references for the sustainable development of China's agricultural export enterprises

Diversification of export activities: essence, purpose and state in Ukraine

Introduction. Export diversification is an essential tool for accelerating economic growth in developing countries. After all, these countries' exports are concentrated on raw materials and agricultural products, which are primarily sensitive to external shocks. By diversifying their exports, countries can reduce their vulnerability to fluctuations in foreign markets, including changes in demand, prices and terms of trade. This will stabilise the country's export earnings, ensure uninterrupted financing of imports and the development of various sectors of the national economy. In addition, diversifying export activities contributes to the structural transformation of the national economy and the country's innovative development. The purpose of the paper is to reveal the essence and functional purpose of export diversification in ensuring the country's economic development. The objective will be achieved by analysing the state of diversification of Ukraine's exports of goods and studying its relationship with the country's economic development. Results. Based on the analysis of changes in Ukraine's export commodity structure, the paper shows that in 2014-2023, there was a deepening of specialisation in Ukraine's exports of raw materials, food and agricultural products. At the same time, the share of medium and highly processed goods in Ukraine's export structure has decreased significantly. These trends are confirmed by the relatively high degree of specialisation of Ukrainian exports of goods over the period considered, as calculated by the normalised Herfindahl-Hirschman index. It is noted that the deepening concentration of Ukrainian exports of raw materials, food and agricultural products has been accompanied by slow growth or decline in GDP per capita. This confirms the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the diversification of export activities and a country's economic development level. Conclusions. According to the study's results, one strategy for Ukraine's economic growth under current conditions should be to diversify export activities and develop trade in goods with a medium and high degree of processing.

EUROPEAN UNION-UKRAINE AGRICULTURAL TRADE DURING THE RUSSO-UKRAINIAN WAR: A POLITICAL ECONOMY PERSPECTIVE

The article analyzes the consequences of the Russian armed invasion of Ukraine, initiated in February 2022, for the EU’s trade policy towards this country and for the changes in mutual foreign trade in agri-food goods due to its temporary, exceptional liberalization, with particular emphasis on the imports of these products into the EU. The study uses the political economy approach (including interest group theory) to explain the premises of the EU’s specific trade policy towards Ukraine and the crisis in mutual trade relations between Ukraine and its neighboring countries, caused by the excessive inflow of Ukrainian grain into their territories. Large agri-food corporations are identified as potential interest groups monopolizing economic power, influencing the use of agricultural land, the export of agricultural products, and Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policy. The measures of temporary liberalization of trade in agricultural products applied by the EU to Ukraine in response to the war situation resulted in a significant increase in their imports into the EU, while in the case of Poland its share in the volume of EU imports of sensitive products (wheat, maize, rapeseed and sunflower) in the 14 months since the beginning of the war was several to over a dozen times higher than in the 11 months preceding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The impact of the agricultural digital economy on China's agricultural export growth: Examining mechanisms from supply‐ and demand‐side path perspectives

AbstractThe deep integration of the agricultural digital economy and foreign trade is an important driving force for promoting high–quality economic development. Based on a theoretical analysis of the impact mechanisms of the agricultural digital economy on agricultural exports, this study empirically examines the impact and mechanism of the agricultural digital economy on agricultural exports using Chinese agricultural export data from 2011 to 2016. The relevant findings are threefold. (1) The agricultural digital economy significantly enhances the growth of China's agricultural exports, and the result remains robust after a series of robustness tests. (2) The heterogeneity analysis reveals that the agricultural digital economy has a greater role in promoting exports from quality frontier firms, primary agricultural products and exports to developed countries. (3) The mechanism analysis demonstrates that the agricultural digital economy promotes exports of agricultural products on the supply side most strongly through quality–enhancing and the information cost effects, improving product quality and reducing information expenditure to achieve export growth. On the demand side, domestic demand traction and external–demand creation effects exert a local market effect and stimulate import market demand to promote export growth. Agricultural Trade Effects of China’s Free Trade Zone Strategy: A Multidimensional Heterogeneity Perspective

The purpose of this work is to investigate the varied effects of China’s free trade zone (FTZ) strategy on agricultural trade and its underlying mechanisms. This work utilizes the propensity score matching–staggered difference-in-differences (PSM–Staggered DID) approach and synthetic control method (SCM) as its analysis methods. This study analyzes trade volume data between China and various countries alongside diverse economic indicators spanning from 1995 to 2020. The data sources include CEPII_BACI, the China Free Trade Zone Services website, the Penn World Tables, and the CEPII database. The novelty of this work lies in exploring the multidimensional heterogeneity of agricultural product trade effects in FTZs and their underlying mechanisms and extending the application of causal inference methods to the assessment of FTZs’ trade effects. Empirical analysis indicates that the establishment of FTZs with partner countries has contributed to the growth of China’s agricultural trade. The effects of agricultural trade resulting from China’s FTZ strategy exhibit multidimensional heterogeneity in the aspects of agreement terms, years, product categories, and network positions. Specifically, when it comes to the agreement terms, FTZs negotiated by China with broader scope, deeper terms, and stronger constraints have a more significant impact on agricultural trade due to the establishment of FTZs; in terms of years, the agricultural trade effects have gradually expanded over time; in terms of product categories, China has expanded its imports of primary agricultural products and semiprocessed agricultural products from partner countries, thus augmenting its exports of horticultural agricultural products and processed agricultural products. In terms of network positions, China, as a hub country, has greater agricultural trade effects than partner countries after the establishment of the FTZs. Finally, the paper proposes policy recommendations for optimizing the implementation strategy of FTZs.

War in Ukraine: Impact on global agri-food trade

The conditions and trends of the global agri-food market are elastic to crises and conflicts involving major market players, which threatens food security by blocking sustainable international trade opportunities due to the destruction of production capacity and value chains, as well as supply channels to consumer countries. The purpose of this study was to investigate the specific features and consequences of the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict on world agricultural trade and food security at the national and global levels. The scientific conclusions are the result of the application of economic and statistical (time series, index, and factor analysis) and dialectical (induction and deduction, analysis, and synthesis) methods of scientific cognition. It was found that the universal features of wars include the ability to influence the global economy, create new geopolitical and economic uncertainty, rapidly increase prices for critical resources (energy), and ensure destabilisation of global value chains. As a result, the disruption of sustainable trade flows caused by military conflicts is an important source of changes in the global economy and the situation of individual countries and regions. It was proved that military operations on the territory of Ukraine led to restrictions in agriculture and forced adaptation of agribusiness to the factors of critical vulnerability. There are trends towards a reduction in production and the breakdown of conventional supply chains for agri-food products due to the destruction of the logistics infrastructure, which, together with a reduction in exports of agricultural products and fertilisers from Russia, has led to a rise in world food prices. As a result, the “price” of the Russian-Ukrainian war for the global economy is being formed, with growing hunger and poverty, as well as the environmental footprint of military operations. The practical significance of the findings of this study lies in the possibility of their application in strategic planning and substantiation of the areas of post-war reconstruction of the national economy in general and its agricultural sector specifically, as well as the restoration and strengthening of Ukraine’s role in global food chains and combating hunger

The Russia-Ukraine war decreases food affordability but could reduce global greenhouse gas emissions

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has the potential to exacerbate food insecurity around the world, as both countries are major exporters of grains and other agricultural products. In this model-based scenario study, medium-term effects of the war are quantified on agricultural production, trade flows, market prices, food security, land use, and greenhouse gas emissions. The scenarios assess the possible consequences of macro-economic and agricultural production impacts in Ukraine, trade sanctions against Russia, and conflict-related energy price developments for global trade, food security, and greenhouse gas emissions. From a food security perspective, we conclude that there is enough food on the global level, but higher food and energy prices cause problems for low-income populations, spending a large part of their income on staple foods. Agricultural production and area expansion in parts of the world other than Ukraine and Russia could pose a risk to biodiversity and lead to higher greenhouse gas emissions related to land. However, total greenhouse gas emissions might decrease as lower emissions from less use of fossil energy due to higher energy and fertilizer prices in the whole economy dominate additional emissions resulting from land use change.

THE ROLE OF UKRAINE IN THE FORMATION OF WORLD FOOD SECURITY

The authors considered the role of Ukraine in the formation of world food security. It was established that the export of agricultural products is a priority component of the national economy. It is studied how the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of sovereign independent Ukraine affects the export of Ukrainian food. The state of Ukrainian food exports based on the results of the 2021/2022 marketing year and 2022/2023 marketing year was considered. The specifics of Ukrainian export of food and agricultural goods are analyzed. The export potential of Ukraine has been proven in the conditions of protracted military aggression and large-scale Russian missile attacks on the entire territory of Ukraine, which have continued continuously for more than one year. The authors considered current operational economic indicators and analyzed the dynamics of their decline compared to pre-war data. The reasons for the decrease in grain supplies have been established. Forecasts of various experts regarding exports for the near future were studied. The authors presented relevant data and graphical models for a more accessible understanding of the problem. The general impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on world food security is substantiated. In the work, the authors emphasized the importance of Ukrainian food supplies at the international level.

Artificial Intelligence Based Renewable Energy Solutions to Enhance Sustainability of Ecuador

The country has faced economic challenges, including high levels of external debt and reliance on oil revenues. In recent years, Ecuador been investing in renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectric power and solar energy, to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and combat climate change. AI-based renewable energy solutions can help enhance the sustainability of Ecuador.

АНАЛІЗ ЗОВНІШНЬОЇ ТОРГІВЛІ ТОВАРАМИ УКРАЇНИ З КРАЇНАМИ ЄВРОПЕЙСЬКОГО СОЮЗУ

The article is devoted to the study of foreign trade in goods of Ukraine with the countries of the European Union (hereinafter – the EU) with the identification of priority partners for the purpose of diversification and activation of foreign trade cooperation. It was emphasized that the foreign trade of Ukraine is dominated by trade in goods, where a negative trade balance is formed, in particular, in trade with EU countries. In order to determine the key consumers of domestic goods among the EU-27 countries, an ABC analysis was conducted based on the volume of goods exported to them by Ukraine in 2016–2021. The distribution of EU countries into groups was carried out as follows: group A – countries that account for a significant volume of exports of goods by Ukraine (about 80% of the total volume); group B – countries with an average level of export supplies of goods from Ukraine (about 15%); group C – countries with a small volume of exports of goods from Ukraine (about 5%). ABC-analysis is complemented by XYZ-analysis, which allows to analyze and forecast the stability of export of goods to EU countries. Based on the results of the ABC-XYZ analysis, a conclusion was made regarding the expediency of supporting the volume and dynamics of trade cooperation with key EU partner countries in the export of goods – Poland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and the need to intensify efforts to increasing the export of goods to countries that in the medium term have the potential to become attractive markets for the consumption of domestic products – France, Bulgaria, Belgium, Lithuania, and to a lesser extent – Denmark, Greece and Latvia. At the same time, it is noted that the vast majority of these countries are highly developed economies of the European Union, and trade in goods with them for Ukraine is disparate. Therefore, it is important to continue cooperation with the EU regarding the signing of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products, recognition of the equivalence of sanitary and phytosanitary measures for opening markets, and simplifying the export of food and agricultural products. It is also necessary to increase efforts to gradually open public procurement markets. The further liberalization of transport with the EU, the conclusion of agreements in the field of road, inland water and railway transport are also important.

Agricultural policy reforms in Uzbekistan to increase the export share

This article underscores the persistent and sustained initiatives undertaken by the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan to augment the export of agricultural products. Positioned as the primary architects of policies, state organizations play an exclusive role in formulating strategies that not only analyze global trends but also consider market dynamics. This comprehensive approach is geared toward adapting and implementing both new and existing policy reforms in the agricultural market and production sector. The emphasis on continuous analysis of market dynamics reflects a commitment to staying abreast of changes in global demand, supply, and trade patterns. This ongoing assessment enables timely adjustments to policies, ensuring they remain responsive to the evolving landscape of the international agricultural market. The article suggests that the Republic of Uzbekistan recognizes the pivotal role of the agricultural sector in its economic growth and is actively working through its state organizations to position itself strategically in the global market. By adopting adaptive policies and reforms, the competitiveness of its agricultural products and foster sustained growth in agricultural exports.

Managing the production of agricultural export products in the context of sustainable development

The relevance of the research undertaken in this article is determined by the fact that recently the concept of sustainable development has changed significantly, and from an auxiliary element ensuring the implementation of production processes, it has become a powerful tool for organizing and conducting production activities in agriculture. Grain production management, based on the use of the concept of sustainable development, is the most important direction for optimizing the production system in any developed country. The presented article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the organization and management of agricultural production in the transition to sustainable development. The necessity of using the concept of sustainable development as a basic condition for the successful development of environmentally friendly agricultural production is substantiated. The perspective directions of interaction of participants in the agricultural production system during the transition to sustainable development are considered. A system of measures adapted to the conditions of environmental management is proposed, contributing to the successful functioning of agricultural production, taking into account the basic principles of sustainable development.

Technology structure of China’s export of agricultural products: empirical analysis based on technical complexity

AbstractGrowing labour costs, increasing resources and environmental constraints and a desire to emphasize high-quality trade have promoted China to prioritize upgrading the agricultural export structure. This brings forth a need for further research on agricultural export technology. We measure the technical complexity and height based on the sample of 178 countries over the 2002–2020 period. The results are then compared with those of the world’s major exporters of agricultural products (APs). We find that China’s APs export exhibited a pattern of medium-technology products and slowly transitioned towards medium–high and high technology levels. The technology structure of China’s APs export was significantly lower than that of the major global AP exporters (except Brazil). The overall technical level of China’s APs exports slightly fluctuated near the medium technology grade. The evolutionary trend of the technology structure of China’s APs export differs from its export scale, showing a tendency towards a more downmarket in 2002–2012 but some improvement since 2013. There is a widening gap in the technology structure of APs export between China and major developed exporters. China’s APs export is losing competitiveness overall, and the upgrading of the technology structure of China’s APs export was slower. Therefore, the technology structure of China’s APs export can be escalated by raising standards of quality, concentrating on the export of higher technical complexity products, promoting the advances and innovations in agricultural science and technology, and further exploring the trade potential hidden behind the differences between China and other countries in export technology structure.

The transformation of the domestic agro-industrial complex to sustainable functioning is impossible without increased government support. Available experience and theoretical studies indicate that agriculture is particularly sensitive to the negative impacts of various external factors. In this context, it becomes important to strengthen the role of public administration in stimulating the development of the agricultural sector. The main task of state agricultural policy is the formation of a competitive agro-industrial complex that ensures food security and expands the export of agricultural products. However, recent measures taken in the regions of Russia to regulate the agricultural sector often turn out to be disjointed and ineffective. This situation emphasizes the need for in-depth research to improve the efficiency of public investment in the agro-industrial complex and develop a regional agri-food policy that will correspond to modern economic conditions and effectively influence the development of the agricultural sector in the region. The object of research is the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tatarstan. The purpose of the study is to determine the most significant factors and mechanisms aimed at increasing the efficiency of state investments in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tatarstan. Research methods – analysis and synthesis, research of economic and legal documents, abstract-logical, statistical. The scientific novelty of the research is the characteristics of current strategic measures of investment support for the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tatarstan from the state, the formulation of factors and mechanisms aimed at increasing the efficiency of the implementation of these measures.

ASSESSMENT OF AGROBIOMAS POTENTIAL OF AGRICULTURE OF UKRAINE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF BIOFUELS

The need to develop the potential of agrobiomass for the production of biofuels is justified, which will make it possible to partially ensure the energy security of the state in the conditions of martial law. The volumes of cultivation of the main agricultural crops and the number of livestock in the field of livestock breeding in Ukraine were determined. The structure of the use of fuel and energy resources in the agro-industrial sector of the country was analyzed and the possibility of replacing oil products in the general energy balance with biodiesel and bioethanol was established. It was determined that the volume of rapeseed production in 2022 has increased by 12.9% compared to the previous year, and the increase in the price of gas oil and disruption of the logistics chains of the export of agricultural products determines the economic feasibility of processing this crop. It has been proven that the use of advanced biogas production technologies will make it possible to increase the level of environmental security of the state, optimize the content of humus in the soil due to the use of digestate, and increase the level of energy security of the state. It was determined that the total consumption of fuel and energy resources by agro-industrial complex formations in Ukraine amounted to 3.84 million tons of equivalent fuel or 2.69 million toe, and the total consumption of these resources was 86.4 million toe. It was established that the consumption of energy resources by agro-industrial complex enterprises was only 3.1% of the total consumption. It was determined that using the potential of agro-biomass of the agricultural industry will make it possible to annually obtain: 3.444 billion m3 of biogas, 1.2 million tons of biodiesel, 10.4 million tons of bioethanol, and 1.59 billion tons of solid biofuels from post-harvest residues. It has been established that the use of the energy potential of the agricultural sector will make it possible to almost completely meet the needs of not only this sector of the economy, but also the entire country in gas oil due to the production of biofuel, and the potential of bioethanol production can be partially used for export. The need to develop biofuel production at both agro-industrial complex enterprises and households has been identified. It has been proven that the use of the advanced technologies for transporting liquid digestate and injecting it will reduce the costs of agricultural formations and increase the content of humus in the soil.
